About me
Hi, I grew up on a farm in Illinois, and worked as an Aerospace Engineer in LA and Arizona for 9 years before “retiring”… in a pickup truck… in 1991. Financial needs and meeting my wonderful wife have sent me back into a more conventional life since 2001.
I starting racing bikes in 1987 and continued until 1993. Note that there is some overlap there with my “retirement”. I had fun for a couple of years traveling around and doing stage races, but then I quit riding regularly until 2003. In the fall of 2006 we moved to Alto NM, and soon after that I started building bicycle wheels professionally.
