Bonito Falls

This is less than a mile east of the property, on a 24,000 acre BLM (government land) parcel. Really nice! There are trails all over this section as well and… no people… at least none when we were there, though I’m sure you’d run into someone occasionally. Frankly, this is a better place and more luxury than I ever expected. I’ve seen all the nice places out west get priced way out of my reach during the last 10 years, so I feel pretty lucky. If (when) this area gets Californicated, I’m sure it will be out of reach as well. Maybe it’s already happening… the owners of this development have stopped selling while they decide how much to increase the prices.
We sat down by the stream on our property in the evening, and there were no mosquitoes at all… so I guess they are intermitant in the summer.
As far as cycling goes, I randomly was ill last week (again). I only rode once in between Tues night TTs. I figured I’d do poorly last Tues, but Klaus was worse and I ended up winning anyway. He started behind me and blew by about 3 miles in like before. This time he faded early though, and I passed him about a mile after the turn around. A lot of people had personal bests, but I was 5 sec slower than the previous week. This stuff is hard! I felt like I was going to puke the whole way back…
